Floyd Gustafson, a licensed Professional Engineer received his B.Sc. in General Engineering at the University of Portland in Oregon; completed Pulp and Paper Process coursework at Lower Columbia College, Longview, Washington and numerous other professional educational symposiums. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry with projects from Cali, Columbia, S.A. to the Pacific Northwest, N.A.

Mr. Gustafson brings to ATICA over 35 years of both professional electrical engineering and field know how in Project Management, Design, Engineering, Risk Mitigation Controls, Due Diligence Design, QC Oversight/Review, in synchronous, steam turbine generation & power distribution systems as well as process controls for Paper, Pulp, Timber Mills and Boilers, Air Emissions Systems controls, Titanium Sponge Furnace technology, Fuildized Bed Boiler technology, & an Aggregate Receiving Terminal, etc. He also authored "Large Bark and Wood Waste Fired Boiler - A Case History," for the TAPPI Engineering Conference.

Professional Experience

PM & Process Design, Cost Estimating & Equipment Evaluation: 1200 HP Biomass fired boiler: Port Angeles Hardwood Technical Advisor, Project Engineer, Process Design & Cost Estimating: Puget Sound Energy - 25 MWH Co-Generation plant.

PM: Smurfit Carton de Colombia - Cali, Columbia S. America - Two projects: I) power system disturbances & failures & II) Assess and development design standards and procedures for the electrical power systems.

PM: Weyerhaeuser Paper Company, Longview, Washington - I) 400 MW Co-generation planning activity; II) Review of solid fuel handling systems for the hog fuel, coal and effluent solids; III) electrical design for wet lap pulp warehouse IV) PM Planning, conceptual design and installation for a waste water solids collection and dewatering project; V) Managed the operation and maintenance of the energy systems, environmental systems, a 150 employee department that supported a production of over 3,000 tons per day of fiber, a chlorine plant, hydrogen peroxide plant and a diversified wood products operation; lumber, particle board, hardboard.

PM: Garden State Paper, Garfield, NJ - Refurbishment of steam plant, upgrade: electrical systems, instrument air systems, boiler feed water piping, generator cooling water systems and new soda ash handling system. Upgrade of the #1 paper machine electrical systems, preliminary design of new variable frequency drive for #2 paper machine, fluidized bed boiler modification.

PM & Engineering QC Review: E. Energy Ltd, Vancouver, BC Canada - Due diligence engineering review of an alcohol plant QC/ Risk Mitigation: Weyerhaeuser Co. in Canada and USA - Proactive Y2K Audit for numerous facilities electrical systems.

PM: Oregon Metallurgical, Albany OR - Design and installation of air emissions control projects, a new titanium sponge furnace, castings expansion and improved electrical reliability / assurance.

PM: Grays Harbor Paper, Hoquiam, Washington - I) Relocation, design and installation of a used 5 MW Turbine Generator & Manager Restructuring and II) Relocation of the 15 KV power distribution system.

CM: Grays Harbor Paper, LP. Hoquiam, WA - Start-up of 2 fine paper machines, installation of a 400 t/d re-pulper & relocated the hog fuel handling system for the existing 200 kpph hog fuel boiler.

Due Diligence Engineering: Enron Corporation, Houston, TX Tissue Paper Machine electrical problems, TMP pulping operation construction auditing and performance testing, feasibility evaluation for a new brown board operation.

PM / Tech. Advisor: Gulf Tech Construction $15 M construction of US Department of Veterans Affairs electrical distribution & control systems.
