Due in large part from work by The Beck Group, in March of 2011 Atica was contacted by WMAT Tribal Chairman, Mr. Ronnie Lupe to evaluate restarting FATCO, a large Tribal-owned mill in Whiteriver, Arizona to save 122 direct jobs. WMAT was successful in obtaining New Market Tax Credit NMTC financing. US$9.4 Million was earmarked for the sawmill capital expenditures (CAPEX), repairs and start-up working capital. WMATCO sawed its first log on February 24, 2014 with additional projects under way for improvements and optimization of operations. Atica is under contract to manage harvest planning, logging, sawmill operations, post & pole operations, lumber drying, steam production, surfacing, grading, shipping, and to conduct extensive training of Tribal management, supervision, saw filers, and lumber graders.
